Diary of an Operation Red Nose Mascot

I am Rudy, the Operation Red Nose Mascot and this is a little peek into my world. Each year around the start of November, Operation Red Nose kicks into gear to help keep the streets of Nanaimo safe from impaired drivers. I am there front and center for the entire event, and this year I'd like you to come along with me.

It's good to be back Nanaimo!

Yesterday was my first day back on the scene. Don't worry if you missed my grand enterance at the Lighthouse Bistro on a HarbourAir Seaplane, there will be plenty more events to see me at over the next 6 weeks. I've got a very busy schedule planned!
This afternoon I dropped in on my good friend Corporal Dave Boyce of the Nanaimo Community Policing Department and he says that last year (November 2005 to date) there were over 1170 reports or arrests of impaired drivers on Nanaimo’s roads. Well I'm happy to say I'm back in town to help make Nanaimo's streets safer by providing an alternative to drinking and driving during the holiday season. The best part of it all is that proceeds go directly to supporting local PacificSport athletes in their attempt to win Gold Medals for Canada.
See you all soon Nanaimo!
